One of the most popular things to do in Guanacaste is visit the many parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the region. You should definitely go to Rincon de la Vieja Park. Arenal Volcano National Park is famous for its large active volcano which often puts on a spectacular display of fireworks at night. The Pacific coast, particularly in Guanacaste, has some of the best surfing in Central America. Tamarindo is less than a 30 minute drive from Villas Casa Loma and provides a perfect beach to learn to surf, whilst Playa del Coco offers advanced surfers the chance to surf at Witches Rock and Ollie's Point. Playa Grande is a tranquil white sand beach that is home to the largest nesting site for the leatherback sea turtle on the Pacific coast, as well as, one of the best surfing waves in the Guanacaste Province.

Zipline or canopy tours give you a bird's-eye view of the forest, move you across canyons and show you scenery that can't be viewed from the ground. Ziplining has been described as "being as close as you can get to flying across the top of the jungle." Participants don a harness with a caribiner that is attached to a wheel on a cable strung between trees. You push off from a platform on one tree and zip along the cable to a platform on another tree. You can be anywhere from 20- to 80-feet off the ground and, literally, flying between the trees at a height in jungles where birds and monkeys hang out on the branches.

You can try your hand at white water rafting in the many rivers that flow through the region. You can also try kayaking both in the rivers and the ocean. Lake Arenal in the Guanacaste region has been ranked as one of the best wind surfing spots in the world.

Guanacaste is also an excellent area for fishing. It is an excellent place for deep sea and inshore fishing where its waters are teeming with acquatic life. Some of the common game fishes are: wahoo, tuna, mahi-mahi, sailfish, roosterfish and many more. Bird watching is also a popular tourist activity in the area. You can try to sight the quetzal, one of the most colorful and elusive local birds. Besides this, there are a number of other exotic birds in the forests of the region.

The place is also great to indulge in snorkeling or scuba diving. There is a beautiful marine life to see. The warm water supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. You can dive into the tranquil blue waters of the sea and view the exotic aquatic life.
